mixed media tutu...

I have recently fallen in love with a French painter, Laurence Amelie. She has a truly unique and inspiring aesthetic. What I love most about her artwork are her paintings of tutus...

So a couple weeks ago I decided to make a Laurence Amelie tutu of my own. To do this I combined her aesthetic with my own love of mixed media. Here is the final product...

I did this piece with pastels, some old ribbon pieces, and dried flower petals. Someday I hope to own a piece of her true artwork but until then this sweet afternoon project will serve to decorate my bedroom wall.

new beginnings...sorry for the silence

New beginnings are taking affect as I have graduated from college, started a new job, and moved into a new apartment! It is my hope to use this blog from this point on to not only use this blog to document my merchandising and display work but to use it as a record of all my creative endeavors. Let's start with decorating my new apartment...

A simple shop light from Home Depot was just the thing to give a little light above our dining room table.

A wonderful piece of wrapping paper with a map of France, a clearance analog clock, a framed piece of quilting material, and a lovely Sofia champagne bottle. A simple (& affordable) hearth decoration.
Spiral staircase leading to the loft, a fantastic thrift store chair, and the most comfortable couch I've ever had the pleasure of reading on...
My favorite room in the apartment...the bedroom with a slouchy Shabby Chic linen duvet, original artwork by yours truly, and some beautiful vintage pieces to decorate the walls.

Thrift store frames framing all my most favorite cards...
Have a wonderful day! Until next time...
