An emergent spring display...

When I'm not completing my full-time internship at Anthropologie I continue to work part-time at a amazing little boutique called EsScentuals. I've worked here full-time (until now) since I was a freshman and am truly blessed to have a visual mentor like Margaret DeWeese, the store owner. If you've checked out my portfolio (on the tab up top) now you know that all of those displays were created by me for EsScentuals. Meg and I have become partners in display crime and even though I'm only able to be there one day a week now, this weekend we worked our magic and created another amazing window display...

I'm caught...

...in netting!

Working at Anthropologie has inspired me to greater heights of creativity and motivated me to try new crafting techniques that I never would have dreamed of trying. You've seen the photos of massive nets filled with pink clothes pins, and despite the long hours of dip-dyeing and installation I am so impressed with the visual impact they create every time I walk by I was inspired to create a version...much scaled down...of my own...

A net crafted with a little know-how gathered from the World Wide Web and simple string...
Hung with pearl drops from a broken vintage necklace I once wore daily...
...now re-purposed into an ethereal wonder over my head.

Projects Galore!

Here is a taste of some of the display projects I've been involved with since I became an intern with Anthropologie.

Yes I dyed all those clothes pins pink...one...at...a...time...
But the result is always worth the work...
This fabulous twist was my idea!
The beginning of another project, this time sewing...
 ...hundreds of ethereal pods!

An amazing window display inspired by local artistry & adapted to fit Anthropologie. All of these projects have inspired me daily to begin artworks of my own. I hope to have photos of my off-the-job works soon...

Intro...Take Two

I know I have briefly explained who I am & the purpose of this blog but I would like to expound, if you will permit me, in more detail. First, here is where I shall be writing you from...my corner of beauty & inspiration...

I love sketching, tearing up magazines, hanging crunchy posters, and am currently obsessed with mixed-media art. I keep everything! Scraps of ribbon, beautiful packaging, pieces of tissue paper, broken jewelry...it all lives on or under my thrift store desk. This is where I come after a long day to be filled once again with inspiration & lose myself in vintage fashion editorials, blogs of artists, & personal art projects...

Speaking of long days, I haven't yet mentioned that as part of my final semester of study I am also a full time intern at a local Anthropologie store! It is truly a dream to be working with amazing people in a place that fosters creativity & beauty in everything. I hope, in the following posts, to keep you up-to-date on my growth as a student of fashion retail & the inspiring creativity that I am exposed to each day. Stay tuned!
